Woodstock is the heart of music, famously known for the festival of 1969. The little upstate village has since become synonymous with many world famous artists, including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix (to name a few). A little-known fact most people don’t realize is that the infamous concert was in was actually held in a neighboring town called Bethel.
About Bethel Woods Center for the Arts
In case you were curious, the music venue in the place of the original Woodstock Festival is Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. As of 2017 this site was listed on the official National Register of Historic Places, receiving protections and preservation grants to keep the property maintained and thriving. On the grounds of the facility there is both a commemorative plaque (that’s a hotspot for tourists) along with a museum about the concerts over the years where visitors can experience beautifully preserved history, see original photo archives, and participate in the educational center’s resources for family friendly fun.

Notable names performing this summer include the Hollywood Vampires (featuring Alice Cooper, Johny Depp, and Joe Perry), Graham Nash, James Taylor & His All - Star Band, The Steve Miller Band with guest Joe Satriani, Shania Twain with guest Priscilla Block, Tears for fears with guest Cold War Kids, Counting Crows with guest Dashboard Confessional, Outlaw Music Festival featuring Willie Nelson & Family, Nathaniel Ratliff and the Night Sweats, Gov’t Mule, Kathleen Edwards & Particle Kid, The Chicks with guest Wild Rivers, Goo Goo Dolls with guest O.A.R., Joe Bonamassa & Styx with guest Don Felder.
With so much talent and so much to see, visitors may want to consider purchasing a season lawn pass! Each pass reserves a spot for every concert, including sold out performances. A great option for locals or tourists planning to be in the area a few times over the season. While the more well-known talent performs at the main stage, the Horizon Stage has it’s own lineup of up and coming talent booked for the summer season.
