The Gables: The Meditation Room

Twin Gables of Woodstock

Updated: Dec 12, 2022

{the journey}

Here's our visual depiction of the transformation:

If you haven't been able to find rooms 8 and 9, that's because they were originally up in The Gables! For a long time the two rooms were used for storage. With our current renovations, both Gables rooms were completely gutted and rebuilt with brand new windows, ceilings + walls and the addition of electricity. (Wow!)

The right side of the Gables was turned into a little 'getaway' space within the house. We call this space The Meditation Room because it lends itself to tranquility and peace - a place where you can clear your head and focus on your intentions. It's an open studio, welcome for guest use!

This post features 'The Meditation Room" Gable on the right side of the house (if you're looking from the street view). Like the other Gables space, the walls and floors were painted white, and a large 8' mandala mural was painted on the floor in an off-white so the effect is monochrome and textural. To add in some comfort, we included oversized meditation cushions, vintage rattan peacock chair, and warm lighting. As our favorite special moment we included a faux-greenery wall, and a custom made faux-greenery sign leading up the stairs that says 'The Gables' to welcome you into the space (not shown).

Follow along next week to see the next transformation at our inn in the Hudson Valley! We hope you enjoy seeing the Before and After pics as much as we do. Come visit us at Twin Gables of Woodstock in the Catskills to experience the vibe yourself. We are proud of the work we have done to modernize the historic Victorian Guest House while keeping true to its roots, and we hope you enjoy the visual tour!

Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge Twin Gables was built upon Lenape ancestral land.
As settlers on their indigenous homeland,  we have a duty to recognize the Lenape nation as the original stewards of Woodstock and beyond. It is our hope that this land acknowledgment will help empower First Nation voices and inspire others in the community to pursue a stronger, more inclusive, and equitable future for our country. We seek to educate ourselves while contributing to the Lenape peoples by raising awareness and learning how to be a better ally against continued colonization.
