"Pick Your Own" Farm Locations

One of Ulster County's most popular U Pick destinations is Seed Song Farm in Kingston, where you can pick a variety of fruits and veggies while enjoying stunning views of the Shawangunk Ridge. We love Seed Song because they are actively involved in engaging community programming. They even have an option to donate a CSA share from their farm to a family in need. This is the closest of the farms to Twin Gables and you could stop by historic Kingston and make a day of your outing.

Another great option is DuBois Farm in Highland, which features a wide variety of fruits and veggies as well as fun seasonal activities like hayrides and apple cannons. They have a tavern and bakery on site as well, so you can have a cold drink and a delicious treat after working up an appetite.

Finally, Fishkill Farm is a must-visit for pick-your-own enthusiasts, with an easy to navigate website explaining exactly what items you are able to pick different weeks of the year and a place to make reservations as well. In June there are strawberries, raspberries, and currants. In July they offer cherries and blueberries. In August, their pick you own includes peaches, nectarines, blackberries, herbs, flowers and tomatoes. It's truly a beautiful farm with a plethora of options.

How To

When you arrive at the farm, check in with the staff to get your picking container and find out which areas of the farm are open for picking. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, and don't forget sunscreen and insect repellent. Don't be afraid to ask the staff for advice on which fruits and veggies are the freshest and how to properly pick them – they're happy to help!

Once you start picking, remember to be mindful of the plants and leave them in good condition for the next picker. Take only what you can eat – it's all delicious and grown with care! When you're finished, head back to the check-in area to weigh your container and pay for your goodies.
